Help fill summertime backpacks!
In December 2009 our church filled and distributed backpacks for homeless men and women in the Little Rock area. There is equal need during the summer months.
Several backpacks have been filled! Many thanks to the people who took them empty and brought them back bulging with graceful generosity.
Eleven more backpacks are ready to be picked up and filled.
These are located in the nursery.
A pink ribbon signifies that the backpack is intended for a woman.
Men and Women who have no permanent shelter need hot weather items to help them survive. If you can fill an entire man's or woman's backpack, please do so. If you can provide items to be placed into a backpack, please do that.
The date of distribution is to be determined.

On July 25 we heard about a new ministry opportunity for PHCC.
Now, we have committed to supply the Wednesday AM crew
on the first and third Wednesday of each month:
Feed the Hungry
is a Little Rock ministry to provide breakfast for homeless men and women in our area. Currently, Feed the Hungry distributes breakfast to approximately 100 individuals each day of the year. Robert E. Johnston, a co-founder of the ministry (with Matilda Buchanan), spoke to our congregation to inform us how we can become a part of the ministry.
Here is what Mr Johnston told us:
The ministry distributes breakfasts from The Salvation Army building in Little Rock Monday through Friday. The Salvation Army distributes breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday.
When you come to join a morning team to help serve, please bring a dozen hard boiled eggs, and/or a container of orange juice (½ to 1 gallon) with you.
Distribution begins at 7:00 AM and ends at 7:30 AM M-F
The Wednesday morning team is now ours on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
The ministry is an ecumenical group, you will meet fellow Christians from all walks. Currently there are 5 teams, totaling about 40 persons.
The ministry also needs donuts, and grits or oatmeal packets to distribute with these breakfasts. Please contact Mr Johnston to learn how to provide these items.

Our congregation is pleased to participate in another avenue by which we can increase our ministry to the homeless of Little Rock.

We collected a mountain of school supplies
for Pulaski County foster children who would otherwise be unable to walk into the classroom all ready to go when school starts. We asked you to minister to these children by helping them be prepared and supplied on the first day of school. You responded with generous hearts.
The school supply items were picked up by CASA on Sunday, August 15, 2010 for distribution to foster children all over Pulaski County.
But if you have other supplies to bring even now, we will see to it that children who need them will receive them. The need does not end with the first day of the school year!
