(The pdf is text-searchable)

Below is the schedule we agreed upon regarding our short-term visioning plan for the beginning of the year (I have made a few tweaks):

Weeks of January 4, 11, 18, and 25. SEEKINGOURMISSION
Here we would call the church to prayer about our future and to a reading I study of around 30"kingdom passages" which will focus our direction. We will identify particular themes which will aim us toward creating a vision in the next phase.

Weeks of February 1, 8, and 15. GRASPING OUR VISION.
Here we apply our understanding of God's mission for us to our particular congregation and community. Part ofthis process is assessing the strengths of the congregation and its members to the open doors we identify in the community. The vision formed will serve as a focus of our efforts and resources and a filter for what we do and do not do.

Weeks of February 22, March 1, and 8. DETERMINING OUR CORE MINISTRY VALUES
This phases highlights how we will apply our mission /vision to our work. Some have called this an "operating agreement," though it is certainly more; but it does have to do with how decisions are made in pursuit of our mission /vision. This identifies how church leaders will move forward in their decision-making in terms of being "expedient" what will get us further down the road God sets for us.

Weeks of March 15, 22, and 29. CREATING A MINISTRY PLAN.
Here we put it all together toward forming a strategic plan for the congregation, focusing on edifying our own members and reaching people in our community, in terms of both evangelism and outreach. Here we call the church back to prayer about how God has led us in this process, and for him to lead us further as we implement the vision.

The schedule really needs to be our servant and not our master, but this constitutes the general parameters we can accomplish what we need during these phases. Remember we will also have some candidates for the permanent ministry position through during this period as well. After the four phases end it would be helpful to have a 2 week-period to put the results of the process in writing and to present it to the board and staff, and to the church as a whole.
